So what! What rapper hasn't borrowed material before. Seriously. Good gyrls move in silence was the mantra for today. My point was to be more observant and less vocal. At time I have alot to say. Today as I purpose to watch and observe and be slow to speak, that's biblical by the way. I learned alot.
   1. Some of the stuff that I wanted to say was not going to help the situation.
   2. People are really quite hilarious.
   3. When somebody is lying and they think that you don't know, you really have the upperhand and control how things are going to play our. Funny how the liar thinks that he/she is in control of the situation.
   4. Whether, I have an episode (Old Schoolers call it a FIT) or not the situation is going to eventually be resolved.
   5. My stress level was significantly down today.

DAY 2: DREAM BIG. THE SKY'S THE LIMIT
This is really simple, but you'd be amazed how many people won't try it. Have you ever been thinking about someone and then they call you or you see them at the store or the gas station? This simple strategy is something like that. Remember taking long trips as a kid and seeing cars, homes, etc. and claiming it for yourself. This is our goal for DAY2.
Write down everything you want to see manifest itself in your life. ETC.
I want my children to clean their rooms daily.
New 6 bedroom home with glass elevator.
       Own a premiere dayspa.
       Publisher of the year.
Nike sponsorship, because I'm doing it BIG.
Life supply of Hubba Bubba Bubblegum.
       Jahzara Water
It's your list, so write, write, write, until you can't think of anything else. What would you do if you knew you could not fail.

DAY 3: "Play Your Position. Stay In Your Lane." Inspired by Lacha' Mitchell.
Everyone has a gift or talent. Some individuals have several. That being said, there's no need to "hate" on another individual. Simply utilize your gift/talent to the fullest. Sometimes we have to do some soul-searching to know what our gift is. Now once you know what your gift is you must groom it, and bring it into maturation. Everyone is responsible for how they handle or don't handle their gift(s). See, I know my gifts and abilities which is why you'll never see me on American Idol. There's no need for me to embarrass myself in front of millions of Americans and get upset when I am not selected "American Idol," because that's not my gift. Knowing that, I can now play my position and stay in my lane.

I dare you to assess yourself and figure out what your gifts and abilities are. List them. Now ask yourself am I utilizing my gift(s) to the fullest? Be honest. If not, how will you utilize your gifts and abilities. So, I honestly had to say I was not utilizing my gifts to the fullest and then I created a P.O.A. (PLAN OF ACTION.)

DAY4: What's In Your Hand?
As I watched my students take the Graduating Qualifying Exam, I noticed them struggling. It felt bad to sit and watch them in silence. I couldn't help them. It was on them to use what they had to succeed. Many squirmed in their seats uncomfortably because they were out of their comfort zone. However, they were equipped for the test. They had been prepared through tutoring, remediation. They were allowed to use a reference sheet that had formulas, rulers, and calculators. They had everything they needed. However, when you don't recognize what you have and know how to utilize those tools, I guess it will send you in a state of panic.
Use what's in your hand, your gifts and talents. Are you making your gifts and talents work for you?
P.O.A.- Use my gifts and talents. Put something in motion.

DAY5: TIME TO UPGRADE
This can be fun or it can be painful. I am actually working on a book entitled "It's Time To Upgrade When..." But back to the topic at hand, upgrading can cause a myriad of emotions. I noted last week that what worked last season will not work this season. Sometimes, the things that worked in the past are no longer valid or useful. You have to let some things go and upgrade.
What things in your life need to be upgraded? Sometimes we have become so comfortable with those permanent fixtures and this is where it may be painful for some--you have to let go of some things and move on to bigger and better. It's not that people don't want to move on to bigger and better, it's the pain and separation that some will deal with regarding letting go of the old and un-useful thing. Sometimes people get in a place of complacency and acceptance.

DAY6: IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT ME
The most profound thing I heard on this week was out of the mouth of my 5-year-old daughter. She said that she and her classmates told another classmate that the teacher was not just their for the one classmate but she was there for all of them. As narcissistic as we are as a people, we must realize that "IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT US." Today, I wanted to genuinely help others and put others first and I tried to do that by assisting others with ideas to prosper them and their endeavors.

DAY7: LETTING GO

I'm not going to let anything or anyone worry me. Anything or anyone that is going to upset my flow will be eliminated. Point blank and I won't be looking back. Most people who really know me know that "When I'm done, I'm DONE!"

No Child Left Behind, there are people being left behind as I make this shift. Low expectation, no goal having, miserable people there is no room for you as I make this next shift. I wish you peace and love all the same.

Reflecting on what my mother told me as little girl and some things my father said to me two days before he died. Had I meditated on what my parents told me more often in the past, I can guarantee you I wouldn't be sitting here right now. Charting the course of my future.

It Kills Me Special

If your relationship is like this you need the Jahzara "It Kills Me" Combo:
Girl, PLEASE book and Love Don't Live Here Anymore books. 2/$20.

A Girl, PLEASE book will be donated to a diva...

Take advantage of this offer at paypal account: tranquilmomentspublishing@yahoo.com

Visit Jahzara at http://www.girlpls.com/ or http://www.jahzarawrites.com/. So, let me say that up front.
I'm wondering how is it that people can be so influenced by the media's portrayl of certain issues though. The media has a problem with Tiger but I don't see anyone complaining about these reality shows with these men and their heiroms.

No one is outraged by rappers degrading women, advocating trading sex for cash, advocating unprotected sex, advocating sex without marriage. "Have a Baby By Me and Be A Millionaire," I could tear this to pieces but why? Say no more.

One celebrity gets millions of dollars in endorsements for saying degrading things about women and promoting promiscuity. Another celebrity simply acts out what rappers-- role models say do and he's butchered in the media. Ridiculous. It's all wrong isn't it? Who will step up and say enough is enough? How long will the public overlook some bad behavior and not all bad behavior.

Jahzara
http://www.girlpls.com/

Sexy Dress and Church?

The Bible says "Come as you are."
Does that mean wearing a club dress to church?
I am sure that God will accept and love you whether you are wearing something sexy or something casual, but your fellow congregation may not feel its appropriate. Well at BGC, Inc., we love the sexy look, the club dresses, and tight fitting garments, but would not wear them to church. If you think about it in another way, would you wear that mini skirt to an interview? Would you wear your sexy sequins club dress to work? The same runs true in a church setting as well. Its not fashionable to go to church with sexy attire. I am not saying that you should worry about what people think of you, but be mindful of your attire and appearance. If the only clothes you have in your closet are the sexy ones, then layer them. Covering up defines maturity. Your confidence in your appearance is what makes you attractive, not your cleavage showing. Here are some tips for God fearing fashionistas with a closet full of sexy:

1) Layer Layer Layer: when wearing a garment that has low cleavage, then wear a camisol or tank underneath. Another option will be to wear a bolero jacket on top of the garment, you can really set it off with mixing colors such as a black vneck top, fuchsia pencil skirt, with a turquoise bolero jacket.

2) If its too tight, don't force it: know your size ladies, its imperative! If your pants cut of your circulation in the tummy area, don't wear them. Go one size up if you have to or put on a body magic garment. Think of all the sitting you are doing when you attend church.

3) Who let the thighs out: minis are in style, but so are knee length skirts. There is nothing that says fashion like a knee length pencil skirt. Get one thats not too tight because it can interfere with your walking stride.

Syreeta Rios

CEO BGC, Inc.
Lipstick Killers Collection

KILLER LIPSTICK POEM BY GPA

KILLER LIPSTICK (THE END?) by ANONYMOUS(GREATEST POET ALIVE)
light and dark

night and day

hunger and satiation

life and death

curse her with curse words then praise in next breath

sicker than on life support,

natural foods, clean thinking, affluent pockets as if life is well

cherubim,seraphim float,fly throught Heaven

fires' flames fiercely ferociously burn in the dark depths of Hell

killer lipstick

extremes hat would be light years apart now paradoxically mesh

a blissful mindstate existence while also around me are horrid horrible screams and burning rotting flesh

in the search for killer lipstick, monogamy becomes polygamy then a divorce unamicably splitting in two

hating halves of what was eternally whole.

because the meandering mindnumbing murderous lipstick was a killer both beauteously bedeviled beguiling and purity pure that had lineage linked to FATHER and Deceiver, i pledged and bartered my soul.

and in the aftermath, a kiss from her i never received...

No...
For 2010, it’s a smooth transition of some of the same styles, with a little twist to them. I am here to make your new year fabulous, fierce, and on point. Spring is only a few months away; let’s get you prepared!

Colors

The top ten colors to wear for the spring ’10 are:

• Turquoise- compliment it with a contrasting or darker color such as chocolate brown or blood red. Blend with a multicolored chunky accessory and you are there.

• Tomato Puree’- a basic red with a subtle touch of grey and cream tones.

• Fusion Coral- an escalated coral peachy color that also looks fabulous with chocolate brown. Find a fabulous fusion coral color top and pair up with a skinny leg, stone washed denim with coral shoes, Fierce! BTW, Avon has a sharp coral hobo bag on clearance right now.

• Pink Champagne- is a color meant for the Lipstick Killer diva stepping out on the town. Its pure elegance and should be worn as such. Find a pink champagne suit for career, who said you cannot be fabulous at work?!

• Amparo Blue- similar to that 80s color blue.

• Tuscany- a light tan or grayish camel color.

• Violet- yes last season it was all about the dark purple and plums, now for the spring it’s all about the light purples. Rock this color in a style similar to Fusion Coral.

• Aurora- yellow with grey tone.

• Dried Herb- the color, not the plant : ) looks like olive green, compliment this with a lime, Sharp!

• Eucalyptus- a mix of olive and cream, compliment w/dried herb.

Trends

Retro elegance is key this season. When you are staring at your closet in the morning, think of Jackie-O, but with more fitted look. Here are some fashion tips that will keep you trend setting instead of trend following.

• Slim, middle knee length or slightly above the knee, pencil skirts to slim you down, but also accentuate those legs and curves

• Tops w/ jewels or sequins embroidery, glam them up with pencil skirts or denim

• The off shoulder look has not gone anywhere yet and if you have not gotten into it, what are you waiting for? Find an off shoulder sweater or flowing tunic, t-shirt dress are a plus

• Speaking of t-shirt dresses, look for ripped, cut, knotted, and other twisted rocker looks

• For my curvy and thick divas, do not get into the floral wallpaper prints that everyone seems to fall in love with in fashion week! Instead aim for less flower for extra elegance, see picture of the Lipstick Killer Floral Panel top with pencil skirt and live by it!

• Yes, asymmetric hems are still ruling the runways

• The tough and chic look will also be popular in the New Year, mix tight fitting blazers, vest, and boy jackets with skinny leg jeans, leather motor jackets are also a plus

• I am definitely not a big fan of the harem pants, just can’t bring myself to put on my McHammer pants again, but if you feel the need, do it girl, its in

As always, there is no fear in fashion, love, and life. Have a fashion fabulous New Year! When he gives you time constraints regarding calling his cell phone number or home phone number.

2. He does a disappearing act for several days and then shows up acting like he just saw you yesterday, be on the alert.

3. As a teacher, I try to take the time to learn something about each one of them and log it into my memory bank.
Some kids, I can say, "Okay this is what we're going to be doing today." And some will hop to it right away. For others, I have to bargain with them. This is where I tap into my memory bank. Roc, is one of those students.
When Roc learned that I wrote books, he and a lot of the students in the class were shocked. I don't go to work and talk about my accomplishments. Instead, I try to show my students what they can accomplish. However, when one asks, "What good will English class do me?" Then, I have to let them know some of the possibilities.
With each book, I try to do something different and the Girl, PLEASE! book was no different. With this book, I asked R&B Group, Entrance to put together a soundtrack and they did. Roc said to me,"Why didn't you ask me to be on the soundtrack."
It had never occurred to me to ask. I told him, "It's not too late." And it wasn't. Roc put together an amazing rap song entitled, "Girl, PLEASE!" As long as Roc keeps doing what he's supposed to do in class, Jahzara will promote him and see that his dream becomes a reality.

If you would like to hear this song go to www.girlpls.com and Click on the "Contact" Tab. Cut and Paste the following": I want to hear Roc's song.

I luv jahzara

WHEN I KNOW HE'S LOOKING

When I know my husband is looking at me, I sashay past him and put a little more hip action in to my walk. We talked about her humble beginnings, her vision and life as both an author and publisher, her ambitions, and of course ... Never Would Have Made It.

Want to learn more about this international phenomena?

Then listen to her latest interview.

This exciting and entertaining interview can be accessed 24 hours a day.

===>   Go Listen

Love and success!
Fran Briggs

Never Would Have Made It: A Testimony of What God Has Done In My Life

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_cZG78g7QDL8/Sd_QyCPptbI/AAAAAAAAACI/hpeeRFCz8us/s320/NWHMI_COVER_FRONT.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323202842589771186" />
For some,Never Would Have Made It is a great song. At the time, I was on a myriad of meds, trying to shake this bad cold I had. I threw the magazine down and said, "That's it!! I'm going to bed." Yet, I couldn't get the title out of my mind. So, I read the article and sure enough this woman who had given birth and was unable to shed the weight gain said her shoes made her lose weight.

So, I thought that's absurd. I conducted research on the shoes: MBT. These shoes are designed to improve your posture, strengthen your muscles, and tone your body. After detailed research, I posed the question, do I purchase a treadmill or these walking shoes. The price was about the same. So, needless to say the shoes are not cheap. I said to myself, "Quit playing, you know you're not goint to be on that treadmill everyday like you should. And you're really going to be mad if you buy it and it just takes up space, but you will wear the shoes." So what I love shoes. The shoes won.

It's been a month and I lost 7 pounds. Now, I'll tell you, this month I'm going to step my game up and actually exercise, and eat better. I wonder how much I'll lose next month.

Now you're probably saying, "Jahzara, I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on some shoes."

I totally feel you and have to tell you that I received a discount on my shoes, and even still they were still a little pricey.

But Avon has a pair that are comparable and very budget friendly. So, you can still walk in my shoes and lose weight.

Order yours today at www.youravon.com/nbradley5875. Police can (and do) hand out tickets if they spot you topless while driving a car or motorcycle.

Penalty: A mere slap on the wrist (or sun-burned shoulders). Tickets go for a few hundred baht (about $10).

Paying in Pennies
Canada

Canada’s Currency Act of 1985 sets out the guidelines for how coins should be used, including reasonable limits for the shelling out of endless coins. What’s reasonable? Don’t try using all coins to buy something that costs $10, or even using all one-dollar coins (sometimes called “loonies”) to pay for an item that costs more than $25. But then, what kind of loonie wants to carry so many coins anyway?

Penalty: If the seller actually wants to take all your pennies, he can, but by law he can also tell you to scram.

No Kissing at Train Stations
France and England

By some accounts, April 5, 1910 was the day romance died on French railways: Kissing was reportedly banned to help deter lover-induced rail delays. But the law seems to be unheard of today. “Are you sure this isn’t a law in Great Britain?” a French spokeswoman at the consulate asked us. What a coincidence: It turns out that Virgin Trains has recently posted “No Kissing” signs at its station in Warrington Bank Quay, in northwest England.

Penalty: While there’s no penalty now for train-related kissing in France, the folks at Warrington Bank Quay will politely ask you to move your smooching to the designated “kissing zone” near the car park.

Driving a Dirty Car
Moscow

Some say this is just an excuse for Moscow police to over-ticket drivers, but you should still watch the filth factor on your rental car. How dirty is dirty? That’s unclear. A recent newspaper survey explored the idea of how to even define “dirty” — almost half said a car was too filthy if you couldn’t read the license plate, while 9 percent said the determining factor was if you couldn’t see the driver.

Penalty: You can get a ticket. Fines might be, shall we say, open to interpretation. Here is a case where you might politely offer to pay the officer up front — $100 should cover it — and be on your way.

Strolling in a Bathing Suit
Grenada

Visiting cruise-ship passengers have gotten under the skin of the local police in Grenada, who cringe at tourists walking off the beach during their shore excursions and into town wearing nothing but their swimsuits. The police chief instituted a fine, and supposedly has also expressed interest in fining folks who wear their jeans too low.

Penalty: In theory, a $270 ticket, though the tourist board assures us that they don’t think it has really been enforced.

Driving With Headlights Off
Denmark

Renting a car? You must always drive with headlights on, says the law in Denmark, to distinguish you from a parked car. Do the Danes really drive so slow that there’d be any confusion? Actually, studies have found that other drivers are more aware of surrounding vehicles when other cars’ lights are on, thus reducing accidents. The law may get adopted across the European Union.

Penalty: Driving without headlights will get you a fine of a little under $100.

Chewing Gum
Singapore

Feeding birds, spitting, and not flushing public toilets will also get you in trouble. Singapore’s most quirky-seeming laws stem from the government’s well-meaning desire to keep things tidy — and let’s face it, gum wads, pigeon droppings, and unflushed toilets aren’t pretty. The infamous gum law actually loosened up in 2004, and Nicorette is now legal (though you have to get it through a doctor and they take down names). Selling regular gum is more of a problem than just casually chewing it, a spokesman says. And more changes are on the way: Gambling will become legal later in 2009, and you can now legally dance on top of bars.

Penalty: About $100 a ticket, especially for leaving a toilet un-flushed; many public loos auto-flush, we learned, but it’s wise to double-check on your way out.

Tranquil Moments LLC is Pleased to Announce

It is March 1, 2009!!!! I nod my head when I hear this. It's not one of those, "Girl-You-Stupid" type of sarcastic nods. You know the look that people give you when they think they have it all together. Nope, mine is a "Girl-I-Know" type of nod. I can relate. Been there. Done that. Often, some of you hear me laugh and joke about "Malachi Chandler". I'm able to do that now after ten plus years. But initially, the pain, hurt and bitterness was there. I wished that I had known then what I knew shortly after saying, "I Do" and I'm certain I would have said, "Are you out of your cotton picking mind?"
Well, I've done my best to put together a manual to help screen out "Mr. Wrong". I wished this manual had been available at the time Malachi and I were dating and perhaps, I would have run for the nearest exit.
I am asking you to help me to give these manuals away to women who could benefit from the information contained in the pages. Perhaps it's you, your sister, your co-worker, or a stranger whose life you may impact.

Together, we can and we will make the difference. Love is supposed to beautiful. Love does not hurt nor deceive.

Don't get caught up on his look or status. Before you date him you need a copy of The Diva's Dating Assessment Tool.

Become a partner of prestige and ensure that divas are not going into relationships blind.

DIVA PROJECT

http://www. fundable. com/groupactions/groupaction. 2009-02-08. 2354534292/groupaction_view

BECOME a Partner of Prestige for the Diva Project BY VISITING THE ADDRESS ABOVE.

Partner of Prestige Wanted

<img style="float:left; I will be hosting my own radio show. I plan to turn dreaded Monday into Monday Madness. Let's add some spice to the week. Did you know and this is a fact, that more heart attacks occur on Monday that anytime of the week? Why because many people dread their jobs, feel stressed out, and then the heart reacts. So, let's change our perspectives regarding Mondays. Jahzara's show is the Tranquil Moments Show, but tomorrow I anticipate will be more hilarious than anything.

I will be interviewing the Real Malachi. If you've read my book Love Don't Live Here Anymore you will know the character Malachi in the book is something else. That's all I will say about him. Listen in tomorrow and you will receive a free gift from Jahzara.

About Tomorrow's Show:

Malachi Chandler is at it again. He's Gary, Indiana's and Jacksonville, Florida's Most Hated or Most Loved. It just depends on who you ask. He's at it again, but his life may be in the balance. Find out why at night at the club just might cost him his life.

Tune in to Jahzara's Blog Talk Radio show on December 22, 2008 7PM EST, 6PM CST. I am educated, have degrees and certifications and still that won't be enough to make it into heaven.

How are you living? Don't turn around and look at someone else or even ask someone to validate how you're living. In your heart you know how you're living. So ask yourself if Jesus were to come back right now- at this moment. What would he find? We don't have as much time as we think we have. You probably don't want to hear this but it's true. However, if you're not where you know you need to be, it's not too late. You can make the change right now.

Another Woman's Husband

I recently read Angel Mechelle's Another Woman's Husband and it was a good read. Prior to reading it, I had my own preconcieved notion about the other woman, Bree. However, after reading the book my attitude about infidelity remains the same. I'm not for it, but my heart softened toward Bree.
My question for today is: Who deserves the blame when cheating occurs in a marriage? Is it the man's fault when he goes out and cheats? Is it his wife's fault that he cheats? I mean does she put a gun to his head and force him to cheat? What is the responsibility of the other woman? Is it possible to be in love with two individuals at the same time?

I want to hear from you

Hot Music

Delroy at Fresh Ent LLC, freshentllc@gmail.com provided Tranquil Moments with some hot music for the Nyree and Malachi Chronicles. Seemingly effortlessly, she entertains every human emotion. In addition to penning three novels, she is a publisher who oversees the day-to-day operations of Tranquil Moments. Her latest release, "Love Don't Live Here Anymore," is an entertaining and enjoyable easy-read. She masterfully keeps the reader guessing with unexpectant twists and turns, and a compelling plot characteristic of only the best 'page-turners.' I spoke with Jahzara about her vision and life as an author, publisher, her goals, ambitions, and of course ... the becoming of this destined-to-be bestseller. .

Fran Brigg: Good morning, Jahzara. Thank you for taking the time to meet with us today. Tell us a little more about your background.

Jahzara:Good morning, Fran. Thank you so much for allowing me this opportunity to share with the world who Jahzara is. I am the oldest of two children born to Diane and Julius Rouse. I am from Gary, Indiana and have a lot of love for my city. I come from a family of educators and entrepreneurs. So, I guess the fact that I am an educator and business owner is in my blood.

Fran Briggs: Your new book, Love Don't Live Here Anymore, is due in a few weeks, but it's already receiving favorable reviews. What prompted you to write it?

Jahzara: There were a lot of factors, that prompted me to write Love Don't Live Here Anymore. The main character in the book, Nyree evolves from a place where I used to live. When, I was in that horrible, place, I recall thinking no one should have to go through this. I bought a blank book and began journaling my experience at that time. Even then, I envisioned that I would share my story with others one day. I wanted my story to be an inspiration and cause women to evaluate some things in their lives. I believed that if my story could help prevent heart ache is one person's life, then my living through that ordeal would not have been in vain. Some years later, I would take a English course at Indiana University with Dr. Buckley. That class would really prompt me to write Love Don't Live Here Anymore. The assignment was simple: write something that is the truth, write something that is a lie, and write a tall tale. When I shared the beginning of Love Don't Live Here Anymore, the class thought it was a lie. Dr. Buckley's comments on my assignment were something to the effect that I should keep going and turn it into a novel. So, after reading Dr. Buckley's comment, I knew that I had to write Love Don't Live Here Anymore.

Fran Briggs: Is there a particular audience or group you wrote Love Don't Live Here Anymore for?

Jahzara: Love Don't Live Here Anymore is anyone's book. The content in this book will cross gender, racial, and economic lines. Fran, I like something that I've heard you say on occasion, 'Life happens,' and because life happens to us all, I believe that Love Don't Live Here Anymore appeals to a broad audience.
Fran Briggs It's a phenomenal book. Could you share an overview with us?
Jahzara Love Don't Live Here Anymore is the story of a charming couple Nyree Shaw-Chandler and Malachi Chandler who fall in lust but think its love. After the nuptials and the honeymoon, the real drama unfolds. What would you do if you constantly hurt the one you loved? What would you do if Mr. Right turned out to be 'Mr. Wrong?' What do you do when love just doesn't live here anymore? My book addresses various themes such as love, trust, denial, and affairs of the heart.

Fran Briggs: That's a powerful synopsis. What has been your biggest surprise since becoming an author?

Jahzara: My biggest surprise has been when people read my works and think that I am talking about them. In my first work, Contradictions, there is a character named, Sasha. One of my readers believes "Sasha" is her. In Friends With Benefits, a story I wrote in Hood2Hood, there is a character, called "Aris." Guys keep asking me if I can hook them up with "Aris." I have to laugh because, Aris is just a character.

Fran Briggs:: Becoming a publisher is a major endeavor. How challenging was it when you first became one?

Jahzara: (Laughing) Oh my goodness, it was real challenging. Fran, I had no clue where to start, I just wanted to do it. So, there was lots of research and brainstorming involved. And I must give thanks to a good author friends, Sheila Peele-Miller, Mimi Jacobs, and of course you, Fran. These women took time to assist me with my endeavors. This is remarkable because both Sheila and Mimi are also publishers and were very helpful in assisting me.

Fran Briggs: What first piqued your interest in the publishing industry?

Jahzara: I get antsy sometimes and that's because I know what I want. I also know that you can't wait for others to make your dream happen - you have to get out there and make it happen and that is what prompted me to get into the publishing industry.

Fran Briggs: Most authors are avid readers. Are there any books that you have read recently that you've really enjoyed?

Jahzara: Yes, I've read Dirty Game by Shannon Holmes, Guaranteed Success by Percy Miller, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey, and Do You! by Russell Simmons. I have enjoyed all of these books. I also enjoy reading my Bible - there is so much in this one book.

Fran Briggs: Writers often say that, just by observing human behavior, something moved them enough to start writing immediately. Have you ever been inspired in such a way?

Jahzara: Yes, ideas began spinning in my head one night as I vacuumed at Waldenbooks in SouthLake Mall. The result was my first novel, Contradictions.

Fran Briggs: Where does the position of a author end, and a publisher's begin? Or, are they both all encompassing?

Jahzara: For an author, I think the hard part is over when the manuscript is written. However, when you're the author and the publisher, completion of the manuscript is the beginning. For me, both are encompassing. When I am taking on the role as the author, I try to set-up my work in such a way that it will make my tasks easier as a publisher. And as the publisher, I am trying to work as efficiently as possible so that Jahzara, the author will shine. They go hand in hand.

Fran Briggs What's hanging out with Jahzara like?

Jahzara Ah, that's a good question. Jahzara is really just a 'down to earth girl.' People who don't know me make the mistake of having preconceived idea of me. I love life. Fran, I work hard and I play hard. I love my princesses, Amber and Halle. We have 'Girls Night' when my husband is at work. Girls Night is popcorn and movies, sitting at the table drinking hot cocoa, or all of us dancing. When hanging with Jahzara you have to be down for anything. I can be spontaneous. For example, I change my hair a lot so people who know me have gotten used to seeing the many looks of Jahzara. Sometimes, at a serious moment, I just might blow a bubble.
At the grocery store, you can see my kids and running up and down the aisle with the buggy, so caution when shopping and Jahzara is in the store. I love intellectual conversations, and then sometimes I like to be goofy. Some days, I am a little late for work because I just want to have some quality time with my girls, or I have to stop for a cappuccino in the morning. Hanging with me, means if you don't have it, and I have it- I got you.

Fran Briggs Jahzara, you have many vocations including high school teacher and small business owner. You're also a massage therapist. Tell us how that cameFran Briggs about.

Jahzara It came about when I was expecting my second child. I just thought it would be a great career change. I did research and it just agreed with me. People say that they can not afford to pamper themselves, I say you can't afford not to. Think about health care cost. It's really cheaper to take care of yourself and do what I call preventive maintenance. Get really sick and then compare the cost.
Massage is not a luxury; some people believe it is. Massage is necessary to keep your body functioning properly. (Laughing) Ooh, I need a massage myself.

Fran Briggs(Laughing) Me, too... Almost everyone wants to see their words in print. How would you advise the individual who aspires to become an author?

Jahzara Write! If I were a baseball player, you'd expect to see me with a baseball bat practicing. If I were a basketball player-you'd expect to see me with a basketball in a gym. So, if you want to be a writer, you have to practice your craft and write. I truly believe sometimes we over-think things. Don't think about it, get a piece of paper and a pen and just let it flow. Don't worry about editing, let the thoughts spill onto the paper. When you're finished, you can go back and clean it up.

Fran Briggs: When are you most happy?

Jahzara: I am most happy when I accomplish my tasks. When I do, I know I can sit back and take a deep breath and enjoy a quiet moment alone.

Fran Briggs: What's next for Jahzara?

Jahzara: Wow! Be on the look out for Da Test: Is He Date-able? (It's the remix version of Contradictions, and screenplays for Contradictions, Love Don't Live Here Anymore, and U 4 Life, which is the sequel to Love Don't Live Here Anymore. I am also launching "Be a Blessing." This is a campaign where I give back to the community. My goal is to empower and inspire women and children across the globe. It started out as one of the assignments my professor gave in my creative writing class six years ago. When he read my paper, his remarks included, 'You have to make this a novel.' And I did." - Jahzara

GARY, IN -- (Sep. 22, 2008) -- ( eMediaCampaigns!) -- Speaking through her publicist, Indiana Author, Jahzara announced that she has released her empowering novel, Love Don't Live Here Anymore (Tranquil Moments, 2008). The book is available world-wide, and follows on the heels of the author's freshman book, Contradictions, an exciting urban novel.

Jahzara is a teacher who was born, raised, and currently resides in Gary, Indiana. She attended local schools before earning her Bachelor's degree at Indiana University in Bloomington, and is working on her Masters degree in secondary education at Indiana University Northwest.

The storyline within the entertaining novel includes Nyree Shaw-Chandler as the main character. She is beautiful, well-educated, and very wealthy. Seemingly, or at least for those looking in from the outside, Nyree has the perfect life. However in truth, she is unfulfilled and yearns for a personal and meaningful companionship to eliminate her feelings of inadequacy.

Haphazardly, and with blinders on, she enters a relationship with Malachi Chandler. Despite Malachi's obvious and major character flaws, Nyree believes they aren't beyond her being able to change them herself. Upon the onset of the courtship, she is very patient and as equally unassuming largely because the charming and handsome Malachi makes her feel special, loved, and beautiful.

Fascination soon turns into frustration, and Nyree eventually becomes heart-broken. After coming to the realization that Malachi isn't who she desperately wants him to be, she finally concedes that her efforts are futile and she is unable to change him. With the handwriting on the wall, Nyree chooses to suppress her feelings and make the best of a bad situation.

Intriguing and utterly convincing, Love Don't Live Here Anymore is at times, also extremely intense. It chronicles the dynamics, and explores the aspects of the couple's pretentious and dysfunctional relationship. In the end, the reader witnesses Nyree's eye-opening, self-discovery as she puts things in their proper perspective. The anticipated best seller was release on June 19, 2008 and will be available on the author’s website, online and traditional bookstores, as well as Tranquil Moments, LLC, Publishing.

Regarding the release, Jahzara commented about the genesis of her book. "The novel originated in Graduate school. It started out as one of the assignments my professor gave in my creative writing class six years ago. When he read my paper, his remarks included, 'You have to make this a novel.' And I did. I had to do it so that I could heal and grow. My goal will be accomplished if, by reading this novel, someone learns from my lesson and does not repeat the same mistake."

ABOUT JAHZARA

Jahzara is a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Authors for Charity. On the outside looking in they appear to be your average happy go lucky couple working on forever. This would indeed be the case if Malachi could simply grow up and flat out just be a man.
Readers will not be able to put Love Don't Live Here Anymore down simply because of the true to life raw emotions displayed throughout this novel. Readers will laugh at times while other times want to cry but overall Jahzara does a fabulous job over weaving together a very realistic story line with just enough excitement from the couple’s never ending drama to keep you engrossed.
Love Don't Live Here Anymore is a very interesting read and upon completion you will even question some of the choices you might have made when dealing with matters of the heart. That is how real these characters are. A woman who loves with all of her heart, she is put through test after test when she marries her Malachi. The trials and tribulations she faces throughout the relationship are shocking and often heartbreaking.

Order a copy of Angel Mechelle's Another Woman's Husband at www.myspace.com/writeordiechic

As a reader I found myself praying that Nyree would see Malachi for who he really was…(A lying, cheating, worthless piece of a man) His actions against the woman who loved him with every ounce of her being were despicable. Readers will find themselves disgusted with Malachi and wonder why Nyree doesn’t just cut her losses and move on. It seems like every time she tries, there is a new obstacle placed in front of her, obstacles that while reading the book you see until they smack you in the face. Kind of like they do Nyree.

I enjoyed Love Don’t Live here anymore. Jahzara’s writing style keeps you connected with the characters and flipping the pages until the end. The novel is exciting and will have you talking out loud to yourself and the characters! Not new to the literary world Jahzara’s first novel “Contradictions” is available from her website. She had hand-crafted a purse with the Greek letters for Delta Sigma Theta. Immediately, I wanted one with my Greek letters, Zeta Phi Beta. I contacted Klaire and she agreed to design purses for Jahzara. We chatted at length and her story was equally impressive. I would like to share it with you. I want you to garnish from Klaire Russell’s story that it doesn’t matter where you start, it’s about where you finish.
At the age of seventeen, Klaire was married and by the time she was twenty-two years old she had three children. In addition to being controlling, her husband was physically and verbally abusive to her. Although, he was controlling he did allow her to obtain two Associates Degrees. As time went on, Klaire realized that she could no longer stay with him for the children, but she needed to leave for safety and sanity.
It seemed that when she left him things were looking up for her. Klaire had been on welfare most of her marriage and lived in the ‘hood. God blessed her with a job that paid a salary of $50,000 a year and she was able to move into a beautiful home. For seven years, she would work 12 hours a day, seven days a week. Working these grueling hours would eventually take a toll on Klaire’s body. By 2004, Klaire’s body was under such duress that she could no longer work. She stated, “I was so sick that somedays, I couldn’t get up. I gained 70 pounds and had to walk with a cane. At times I lost consciousness.”
Klaire’s job observed the decline in her body, but believed that it was slothfulness and fired her. When Klaire lost her job she lost everything. Klaire lost her income, her home, and self worth. Times had gotten so hard that she and her children were living out of her car.
Klaire suffered from depression and wanted her life to end. She didn’t understand why she was suffering such distress. Klaire even questioned God about her current suffering. On December 31, 2006, Klaire awakened in a hospital room. On her way to the restroom, she saw an angel. Scared, Klaire retreated under the covers, but often peeked from under the covers to see the angel lifting her hands above her head and down top her waist. Klaire called her mother the next day to tell her mother about the experience. Her mother who is also a minister told Klaire that the angel’s presence was God’s way of telling Klaire that everything would be okay and Klaire did not need to worry.
Klaire’s life would turn the moment a nurse gave her 7 colored pieces of paper and 7 oil crayons to take her mind off of things. Klaire was not interested but took the items and placed them under her pillow, where they would remain for the next 7 days until she was released to go home.
On January 7, 2007, Klaire left the hospital and took her youngest daughter to the art store. Klaire states that she felt bad for having missed New Year’s with her daughter and wanted to make it up to her, so she took her daughter to the art store. Upon entering the art store, Klaire’s youngest daughter announced that they were going to paint. Klaire said, “No, we’re not.” They argued back and forth for the next 10 minutes. Klaire gave in and selected 7 paints, 7 brushes, a wooden stool, and a wooden birdhouse. Later that evening, Klaire would watch her daughter paint the stool. Klaire recalls staring and watching her daughter. Her daughter coaxed her, “ Please paint, Mom, it will make you feel better.” Klaire sat and stared at her wooden birdhouse for 15 minutes.
Fifteen minutes later, Klaire had finished something she had never imagined she would do. She had painted her first wooden birdhouse. It sold for $85. Since that day, January 7, 2007, Klaire has painted over 1300 pieces and sold all but thirty. Klaire has had radio and television appearances.
Klaire’s has no formal art training, yet her first canvas painting sold for $50, her second painting sold for $200. All of Klaire’s works are individualized, one-of-a-kinds, as she is unable to duplicate her own work. Klaire’s work is 3D and 360 degree art.which means it looks like it is coming at you or going in. Any direction that you turn the painting, yields a new picture.
These days, there is no limit to Klaire’s success. An upscale art gallery in Toledo, Ohio called The 20 North Art Gallery is now carrying her work. Her paintings are selling for $700, purses $300, Sun Parasols - $100. Jack Ford, former Mayor of Toledo, who also is an African-American has a show co-hosted with his wife. The name of the show is Coffee With the Fords. Mr. Ford personally picked out two of Klaire's paintings and they will be featured on the show, the weekend of July 19 and July 26. Klaire will also be painting live humans of canvas July 17 at The Truth Gallery.

To have Klaire custom design artwork for you or your business contact her at 419-340-3391, KSTAR132@yahoo.com or KSTAR@myspace.com.

ABOUT JAHZARA

Jahzara is a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Authors for Charity. Then one day I came to the realization that I really didn’t care about this faceless, nameless group of people whom I referred to as “they”. I began to ask myself some thought- provoking questions like: “When was the last time “they” paid a NIPSCO (light and gas) bill?” and “Where was “they” on the first of the month when rent needed to be paid. To my recollection, “they” had been no where to be found. It was then that I was delivered from caring about “they” and what “they” were going to think. Now, over a decade later I laugh at having had the “They Syndrome”.

If anyone is suffering from the “They Syndrome” God can deliver you from it like He delivered me. God does not want us to live our lives trying to conform to the world or caring about what “they” are going to say. Instead, we must focus our efforts on pleasing God. Each time we consider making a decision or taking action we must ask ourselves what God will say about this or how will God feel about this. Our goal should not be to please others but to “prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

Stop The Pity Party!

I have got to keep it real with ya, this morning when I woke up- I really wasn't feeling this day. Man, I was tired beyond belief even though I went to sleep earlier last night than I have in a long time. I believe it was around nine o'clock when I got into bed. Yet, this morning I couldn't pry myself from the pillow and the fact that it was forty-some degrees outside didn't make it any better.
"It's Sunday! Sleep in," my body begged.
"It's Sunday! You need a word from the Lord," my soul said.
And the war was on. My body wanted to stay home. My inner woman said we can't continue to go on like this. I felt like a car does when it is on "E" and used up most of what is in the reserve tank. I need to be refreshed and revived and staying home wasn't going to get it. Finally, I got the kids ready and fed minus their hair being combed. Half of the battle was won.
However, the question every woman is faced with daily appeared- What am I going to wear?
And wouldn't you know it- no pantyhose in sight. I had passed by numerous places yesterday but never considered pantyhose for Sunday. I was determined I was going to church regardless. If sleep wasn't keeping me home, pantyhose sure wouldn't. I envisioned the outfit I would wear. I ironed my blouse and everything. The skirt- where is my skirt? After tumbling over three baskets of clean clothes and ransacking both of my closets (isn't God good- I have two closets full of clothes?) I couldn't find the skirt. I found it in the dirty clothes hamper. "Great," I said sarcastically to no one. Determined that I was going to make it to church, I went back to the closet and found a blue jean dress which was wrinkled beyond belief. I must have spent a good twenty minutes ironing it and figured that the dress was meant to be especially after I stumbled upon some hosiery. "Yeah," I said patting myself on the back. After I showered and combed my girls' hair then I put on the dress and wouldn't you know it- I must have gained some weight since the last time I wore the doggone thing because it was feeling a little snug in the arms. "That's just great, but I'm still going to church," I told myself. I buttoned it up and it fit everywhere else or did it? When I looked down, it was barely above my knees and I wanted to wear some high heeled boots with it. I let out a sigh and the battle intensified. I could just stay home. So, I looked in my closet and found another skirt to go with the already ironed blouse and I told myself this outfit was going to have to work no matter what. I already missed an hour of church dealing with this foolishness. I began to pity myself . Why me? Why this? Why that? It had escalated beyond the outfits, beyond the tiredness, into other aspects of my life.
I went to church and there was a word for me . It was about fighting the battle and not getting weary. God is awesome. After church, my girls and I went to get some ice cream-probably something I didn't need but everything happens for a reason. I looked over into Little Caesar's parking lot and I saw this man hitting at something. Later, I saw him waving his club at something. When I ready to pull off, I saw a woman on the ground trying to protect herself. My heart broke right then and there. I didn't see this man actually hit this woman, but my body posture told a story. I began to pray for that woman and her situation. I don't know her. I don't know what happened and truthfully it's not my business. It's not my place to judge her and say anything about her. As I drove down the road I saw the police driving in that direction. I began to consider myself and realize I had a lot to be thankful for. That could have been me in that dusty parking lot. So, so what that my two outfits didn't work out this morning. So what I have gained a little weight and a little tired, and my bank account doesn't have as many commas as I would like for it to have right NOW, things could be a worse.
Take time to consider your situation- thank God for what you have and pray for someone else.

Peace and Blessings,
Jahzara

Before You Bare Your Sole...

Before You Bare Your Soles…

If eyes are the windows of the soul, your poor feet are the workhorses. I will publicly go on a diet and check in with you all each day. First I should share with you what the Master Cleanse Diet or Lemonade Diet is and my reasons for taking this great feat on. Feel free to join me.
The Master Cleanser Diet, or as popularly known; The Lemonade Diet was created by the late Naturopath Stanley Burroughs. The Diet consists of fasting to rid the body of toxins, created by improper diet, lack of exercise and negative mental attitudes. The purpose of the Lemonade Diet is to dissolve and eliminate toxins and congestion; to cleanse the kidneys and digestive system; to purify glands; to eliminate waste and hardened materials in the joints and muscles; to build a healthy bloodstream; to maintain optimal blood pressure; and to what you all are waiting to hear... to lose weight. As a reducing diet it is superior in every way, reducing fat at a rate of about two (2) pounds a day for most persons, without harmful side effects. (Information provided by the lemonadediet.com) It is rumored that Beyonce' also used this diet to prepare for her role in Dream Girls.
My reason for taking this challenge is because I want to feel better, shed pounds because I want to feel better and look good for me and I want more energy as well as clearer skin. I will long in daily. I have decided to do this challenge for seventeen days.

The components of the Master Cleanse Diet. First and foremost I suggest to anyone that is thinking about starting it to purchase the book or do research on the internet for oneself. Do not simply rely on my information.
At night you before bedtime drink an eight ounce cup of Smooth Move tea.
In the morning upon rising drink 32 ounce cup of uniodized sea salt water. (Use 2 teaspoons of the uniodized sea salt. If you use iodized the diet won't work.)
Note: The water should be pure and it is suggested that you use a filter on your sink. Research shows that there are so many toxins in the water that come from the tap until it is ridiculous. When I found out what I had been drinking it made me want to puke, no lie. Bottled water will not do either. I want this to work for me so I am willing to follow this diet to the letter and yes, I did buy the filter. If it going to keep me and my family healthy it's worth it. It was really inexpensive.)
During the day you drink 6-10 ten-ounce glasses of the Lemonade which consists of
2 Tablespoons of pure, organic maple syrup (don't try to substitute this or the diet will not work)
2 Tablespoons of organic lemon juice ( again use organic lemon juice, canned, frozen or anything other than organic will not work)
A pinch of cayenne pepper
Mix with water and you're good to go.

As I approach the end of the fast, I will share with you the proper way to come off the fast.

Day I: I drank the smooth move tea last night and surprisingly it was not bad. I thought that I was going to want to add some sugar to it before I started but once I tasted it there was no need. This morning I drank a cup of the uniodized sea salt water and it really was not that bad. I made the lemonade mixture at work and have been drinking it all day. I have not been hungry at all. So yea, for a good day so far.
6PM: I gotta keep it real. I just broke down and ate a pinch of my baby's pizza. That sausage and pepperoni and cheese was calling my name. So, it was a pinch. Then, I said, "Girl, you blew it. You just ate something and it did not hit the spot. So a salad won' t hurt will it?' So, I ate a small lettuce and carrot salad with ranch dressing and it was GOOD!
8:30 I drank some more lemonade and then my tea. Tomorrow will be better.

DAYII: How about that salt water in the morning is supposed to be 32 ounces? Yesterday I only drank 8 ounces of it because I didn't know. So, this morning I drank 32 ounces of it. And know I know the purpose of this morning cup. I spent an extra twenty minutes in the lavatory this morning. This system is truly cleansing me. I was like "Lord, you gotta to help me because I got to get to work. I don't think I can call off work because my body is detoxing. " Ofcourse, I wouldn't report that to my job, but when I call off work I like for it to be worth my while or just to have a chill day. Yes, I do take mental stress relief days. I'm not going to unnecessary stress and unwanted gray hairs due to a job. NOPE. I will take a mental stress relief day before that happens. So anyways, thank God I made it out of the house on time this morning. Got my oldest to school on time with time to spare and made it to work earlier than I have in a long time. Look how God works.
So, it's approaching noon on day 2 and my stomach is growling right now, so I gotta go and get some lemonade. My body really wants a mushroom swiss cheesburgrer with fries- let me stop. I am on a mission for myself and when this over I am going to have to go a shopping spree because my clothes will be too big in the waist, thighs and I can't walk around with pants that got a droopy booty.

DAYIII: I did it. Thank God, I made it through day 2 without cheating. I did not eat anything which is really good for me, because a sistah is used to eating. Now, day three has been going well so far. It's 11:00 am- I can do this. I skipped the salt water this morning, but I had the tea. There were no delays this morning (read yesterday's excerpt to see what I mean). You know I'm thinking this is not too bad, however it would probably be best to do this cleanse when you're at home and don't have to work-because it does make you "go" and I prefer to "go" at home.

THEY SAY...

I am so sick and tired of hearing people say, "You know they say..." or "They say you can't do bluh-bluh..." Would somebody please tell me who they is?
Once upon a time, I used to live my life to please people. I wouldn't buy a certain item or wear a certain article of clothing because I was afraid of what "they" might say or what "they" might think. One day I asked myself who this powerful "they" was and I couldn't answer the question. It was one day that I matured, stuck my tongue out, smacked myself on the behind and said, "They, whomever they may be can take that.
